Patel has still more irons in the fire. After completing a regular gig on Aaron Sorkin’s HBO series “The Newsroom,” the actor will soon be seen in the indie dramedy “The Road Within,” coming March 17 to video-on-demand and next month to theaters. He’s currently filming the second of two upcoming features set partly in India — “Lion,” about a lost boy, raised in Australia, who returns to the subcontinent to find his birth family. And in “The Man Who Knew Infinity,” he plays the pioneering, Cambridge-educated mathematical theorist Srinivasa Ramanujan.
